Mothers are invited to volunteer in the community garden while engaging in peer support.

Postpartum Support Charleston has partnered with Charleston Parks Conservancy to bring the mothers of the Lowcountry our newest support group, Gather & Garden: Mom Edition.

This support group will be unlike any other group that has been held.

Mothers will be invited to volunteer in the Medway Community Garden while also being given the space to talk about their motherhood experiences with their peers and Mom Mentors. This group will be private, providing mothers a safe space to talk about their emotions openly and ask questions about maternal mental illnesses.

The volunteering duties in the garden will include weeding, seeding, planting, watering and harvesting produce that’s donated to local food pantries.

Medway Community Garden also has a dedicated fresh cut flower garden where moms can make bouquets for themselves and for other moms participating in Postpartum Support Charleston programs.

Not only will the new mothers find community and support in meeting other mothers, but they will also be able to feel of sense of pride and accomplishment in using their hands to work in the garden.

Mothers are encouraged to bring their children (babies/toddlers) to enjoy the garden with them!

Gather & Garden: Mom Edition is a free event and will meet every 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 9-11 am starting in September. Registration is required as there is limited space available.
