The holiday season can be one of joy, happiness, celebration and love.

Or, it can be a time of heartache, difficulty, depression and stress.

As a new mom, we put so much pressure on ourselves to provide the best holidays for our little ones. And if this is you, I’m giving you permission to NOT stress this holiday season.

On the other hand, if you are so swamped with being a new mom that the holidays aren’t on your priority list, this article is for you too.

Who do I call this holiday if I need help?

As we get close to the holidays, be aware that doctor’s offices and therapists are going to be a little less responsive and may not have appointments available.

This doesn’t mean that you can’t find help.

  • Postpartum Support Charleston is available during the holidays. While we don’t have a hotline that you can call where someone will answer the phone immediately, we do have a warmline that you can leave a message and your call will be returned. Please don’t hesitate to call us at (843) 410-3585
  • Postpartum Support International also is available during the holidays. If you are looking for someone to talk to or need to join a support group, you can visit their website to find more information.
  • If you need someone to talk to immediately, you can call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262.  A coordinator will answer your call and be able to provide support on the phone for you.

Whether you are looking for information about support options or needing to talk to someone immediately, there is help through the holidays. Don’t wait until the New Year if you are needing some help. We are here for you, mama.
